Our dog shakes after every exchange with other dogs. She also shakes when she’s had enough of my attention and she shakes when she is ready for a change in the energy. All mammals shake except us humans. We have cognition, so that means we believe we can think our way through a situation. Our body knows otherwise.
Of the many things that Joe and I learned at our retreat last week was a simple practice called the silent scream. I noticed people around the circle putting their hands over their mouth and shaking their body when something heavy was said or when there was tension in the room. It wasn’t disruptive and it seemed to dissipate whatever energy was gathering in their body.
It was another few days before anyone gave a name to this practice, the silent scream, and taught us how to do it. It was a long week of big emotional work and I started using the silent scream whenever I felt foggy or tired. It was better than a cup of coffee or a nap. I came home and taught our kids and I’m excited to share it with you.
You can do it almost anywhere. Take a quick inhale and cup your hands to form a seal against your mouth and blow out like you're screaming without sound and shake your booty. In fact, shake everything.
Give it a try. Your body will know exactly what to do.

So much good stuff happening this month. One of my favorite humans and pleasure researchers, Genevieve, has created a mini-retreat about the power of erotic energy. Tuesday May 24th from 11-1 PM EST. You can find more about that here.
If you are near or around NYC, tomorrow May 21st is the best day in the city, The NYC Dance Parade. Originally a protest against cabaret laws that restricted public dancing, this is now an epic gathering of every dance trope in the city. danceparade.com.

Yes! This makes a lot of sense. I love to shake, and I wish it was much more «normal» to it - cause sometimes the energy field… screams for it. Thank you for sharing the silent scream practice!
